Umm2M memorization schedule

[Umm2M]

Assalamu aliakum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,

Insha'Allah, I will try to memorize a page a week. I will start where I left off last which is with surah An-Naziyat insha'Allah.

I'll start with the first 10 ayaat:

وَالنَّازِعَاتِ غَرْقًا

By those (angels) who pull out (the souls of the disbelievers and the wicked) with great violence.

وَالنَّاشِطَاتِ نَشْطًا

By those (angels) who gently take out (the souls of the believers).

وَالسَّابِحَاتِ سَبْحًا

And by those that swim along (i.e. angels or planets in their orbits).

فَالسَّابِقَاتِ سَبْقًا

And by those that press forward as in a race (i.e. the angels or stars or the horses).

فَالْمُدَبِّرَاتِ أَمْرًا

And by those angels who arrange to do the Commands of their Lord, (so verily, you disbelievers will be called to account).

يَوْمَ تَرْجُفُ الرَّاجِفَةُ

On the Day (when the first blowing of the Trumpet is blown), the earth and the mountains will shake violently (and everybody will die).

تَتْبَعُهَا الرَّادِفَةُ

The second blowing of the Trumpet follows it (and everybody will be resurrected).

قُلُوبٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ وَاجِفَةٌ

(Some) hearts that Day will shake with fear and anxiety.

أَبْصَارُهَا خَاشِعَةٌ

Their eyes will be downcast.

يَقُولُونَ أَإِنَّا لَمَرْدُودُونَ فِي الْحَافِرَةِ

They say: "Shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state of life?

So insha'Allah, I will memorize these ayaat by this Friday.

Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,

Alhamdulillah, I memorized the first 10 ayaat and tried to attend the review session for sisters but there was no invitation sent. I will insha'Allah, move to the next 10 ayaat and insha'Allah in the next reveiw session I would like to insha'Allah, read ayaat 1-20 to the teacher biithnillah.

أَإِذَا كُنَّا عِظَامًا نَّخِرَةً

"Even after we are crumbled bones?"

قَالُوا تِلْكَ إِذًا كَرَّةٌ خَاسِرَةٌ

They say: "It would in that case, be a return with loss!"

فَإِنَّمَا هِيَ زَجْرَةٌ وَاحِدَةٌ

But it will be only a single Zajrah [shout (i.e., the second blowing of the Trumpet)], (See Verse 37:19).

فَإِذَا هُم بِالسَّاهِرَةِ

When behold, they find themselves on the surface of the earth alive after their death,

هَلْ أَتَاكَ حَدِيثُ مُوسَىٰ

Has there come to you the story of Musa (Moses)?

إِذْ نَادَاهُ رَبُّهُ بِالْوَادِ الْمُقَدَّسِ طُوًى

When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa,

اذْهَبْ إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ إِنَّهُ طَغَىٰ

Go to Fir'aun (Pharaoh); verily he has transgressed all bounds (in crimes, sins, polytheism, disbelief).

فَقُلْ هَل لَّكَ إِلَىٰ أَن تَزَكَّىٰ

And say to him: "Would you purify yourself (from the sin of disbelief by becoming a believer)?"

وَأَهْدِيَكَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ فَتَخْشَىٰ

"And that I guide you to your Lord, so you should fear Him?"

فَأَرَاهُ الْآيَةَ الْكُبْرَىٰ

Then [Musa (Moses)] showed him the great sign (miracles).

[Umm2M]

assalamu alaykum,

Alhamdulillah, after reviewing my memorization in the sister review session, I will insha'Allah continue from ayah 21 to ayah 34 biithnillah.

فَكَذَّبَ وَعَصَىٰ

But [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] belied and disobeyed.

ثُمَّ أَدْبَرَ يَسْعَىٰ

Then he turned his back, striving (against Allah).

فَحَشَرَ فَنَادَىٰ

Then he gathered (his people) and cried aloud,

فَقَالَ أَنَا رَبُّكُمُ الْأَعْلَىٰ

Saying: "I am your lord, most high."

فَأَخَذَهُ اللَّهُ نَكَالَ الْآخِرَةِ وَالْأُولَىٰ

So Allah, seized him with punishment for his last and first transgression. [Tafsir At-Tabari]

إِنَّ فِي ذَ‌ٰلِكَ لَعِبْرَةً لِّمَن يَخْشَىٰ

Verily, in this is an instructive admonition for whosoever fears Allah.

أَأَنتُمْ أَشَدُّ خَلْقًا أَمِ السَّمَاءُ ۚ بَنَاهَا

Are you more difficult to create or is the heaven that He constructed?

رَفَعَ سَمْكَهَا فَسَوَّاهَا

He raised its height, and has perfected it.

وَأَغْطَشَ لَيْلَهَا وَأَخْرَجَ ضُحَاهَا

Its night He covers with darkness and its forenoon He brings out (with light)

وَالْأَرْضَ بَعْدَ ذَ‌ٰلِكَ دَحَاهَا

And after that He spread the earth,

أَخْرَجَ مِنْهَا مَاءَهَا وَمَرْعَاهَا

And brought forth therefrom its water and its pasture.

وَالْجِبَالَ أَرْسَاهَا

And the mountains He has fixed firmly,

مَتَاعًا لَّكُمْ وَلِأَنْعَامِكُمْ

(To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle.

فَإِذَا جَاءَتِ الطَّامَّةُ الْكُبْرَىٰ

But when there comes the greatest catastrophe (i.e. the Day of Recompense) -

Assalamu aliakum,

Alhamdulillah, I was able to, by the Mercy of Allah, to memorize up to ayah 39. Insha'Allah, I will memorize, biithnillah, ayaat 40-46 (end).

وَأَمَّا مَنْ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّهِ وَنَهَى النَّفْسَ عَنِ الْهَوَىٰ

But as for him who feared standing before his Lord, and restrained himself from impure evil desires and lusts.

فَإِنَّ الْجَنَّةَ هِيَ الْمَأْوَىٰ

Verily, Paradise will be his abode.

يَسْأَلُونَكَ عَنِ السَّاعَةِ أَيَّانَ مُرْسَاهَا

They ask you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) about the Hour - when will be its appointed time?

فِيمَ أَنتَ مِن ذِكْرَاهَا

You have no knowledge to say anything about it.

إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ مُنتَهَاهَا

To your Lord belongs (the knowledge of) the term thereof?

إِنَّمَا أَنتَ مُنذِرُ مَن يَخْشَاهَا

You (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) are only a warner for those who fear it,

كَأَنَّهُمْ يَوْمَ يَرَوْنَهَا لَمْ يَلْبَثُوا إِلَّا عَشِيَّةً أَوْ ضُحَاهَا

The Day they see it, (it will be) as if they had not tarried (in this world) except an afternoon or a morning.

Assalamu alaikum,

Alhamdulillah, I have completed An-Naziyyat but will continue to review it insha'Allah as I keep exchanging 'wa' and 'fa' in some ayaat.

I will insha'Allah move on to surah An-Naba insha'Allah, ayaat 1-10.

عَمَّ يَتَسَاءَلُونَ

What are they asking (one another) about?

عَنِ النَّبَإِ الْعَظِيمِ

About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Qur'an, which Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم brought and the Day of Resurrection)

الَّذِي هُمْ فِيهِ مُخْتَلِفُونَ

About which they are in disagreement.

كَلَّا سَيَعْلَمُونَ

Nay, they will come to know!

ثُمَّ كَلَّا سَيَعْلَمُونَ

Nay, again, they will come to know!

أَلَمْ نَجْعَلِ الْأَرْضَ مِهَادًا

Have We not made the earth as a bed,

وَالْجِبَالَ أَوْتَادًا

And the mountains as pegs?

وَخَلَقْنَاكُمْ أَزْوَاجًا

And We have created you in pairs (male and female, tall and short, good and bad, etc.).

وَجَعَلْنَا نَوْمَكُمْ سُبَاتًا

And We have made your sleep as a thing for rest.

وَجَعَلْنَا اللَّيْلَ لِبَاسًا

And We have made the night as a covering (through its darkness),

Assalamu alaikum,

Alhamdulillah, I was able to memorize ayaat 1-30. I will memorize ayaat 31-40 insha'Allah ta 'ala. I'll post ayaat 11-30 here too insha'Allah.

Memorized alhamdulillah:

وَجَعَلْنَا النَّهَارَ مَعَاشًا

And We have made the day for livelihood.

وَبَنَيْنَا فَوْقَكُمْ سَبْعًا شِدَادًا

And We have built above you seven strong (heavens),

وَجَعَلْنَا سِرَاجًا وَهَّاجًا

And We have made (therein) a shining lamp (sun).

وَأَنزَلْنَا مِنَ الْمُعْصِرَاتِ مَاءً ثَجَّاجًا

And We have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water.

لِّنُخْرِجَ بِهِ حَبًّا وَنَبَاتًا

That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations,

وَجَنَّاتٍ أَلْفَافًا

And gardens of thick growth.

إِنَّ يَوْمَ الْفَصْلِ كَانَ مِيقَاتًا

Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time,

يَوْمَ يُنفَخُ فِي الصُّورِ فَتَأْتُونَ أَفْوَاجًا

The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups after groups). [Tafsir At-Tabari]

وَفُتِحَتِ السَّمَاءُ فَكَانَتْ أَبْوَابًا

And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates,

وَسُيِّرَتِ الْجِبَالُ فَكَانَتْ سَرَابًا

And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage.

إِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ كَانَتْ مِرْصَادًا

Truly, Hell is a place of ambush -

لِّلطَّاغِينَ مَآبًا

A dwelling place for the Taghun (those who transgress the boundary limits set by Allah like polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, hyprocrites, sinners, criminals),

لَّابِثِينَ فِيهَا أَحْقَابًا

They will abide therein for ages.

لَّا يَذُوقُونَ فِيهَا بَرْدًا وَلَا شَرَابًا

Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink.

إِلَّا حَمِيمًا وَغَسَّاقًا

Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges -

جَزَاءً وِفَاقًا

An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes).

إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا لَا يَرْجُونَ حِسَابًا

For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning.

وَكَذَّبُوا بِآيَاتِنَا كِذَّابًا

But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidence, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم brought) completely.

وَكُلَّ شَيْءٍ أَحْصَيْنَاهُ كِتَابًا

And all things We have recorded in a Book.

فَذُوقُوا فَلَن نَّزِيدَكُمْ إِلَّا عَذَابًا

So taste you (the results of your evil actions). No increase shall We give you, except in torment.

[u][b]Need to memorize insha'Allah:[/b][/u]

إِنَّ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ مَفَازًا

Verily, for the Muttaqun, there will be a success (Paradise);

حَدَائِقَ وَأَعْنَابًا

Gardens and vineyards,

وَكَوَاعِبَ أَتْرَابًا

And young full-breasted (mature) maidens of equal age,

وَكَأْسًا دِهَاقًا

And a full cup (of wine).

لَّا يَسْمَعُونَ فِيهَا لَغْوًا وَلَا كِذَّابًا

No Laghw (dirty, false, evil talk) shall they hear therein, nor lying;

جَزَاءً مِّن رَّبِّكَ عَطَاءً حِسَابًا

A reward from your Lord, an ample calculated gift (according to the best of their good deeds),

رَّبِّ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا الرَّحْمَـٰنِ ۖ لَا يَمْلِكُونَ مِنْهُ خِطَابًا

(From) the Lord of the heavens and the earth, and whatsoever is in between them, the Most Gracious, with Whom they cannot dare to speak (on the Day of Resurrection except by His Leave).

يَوْمَ يَقُومُ الرُّوحُ وَالْمَلَائِكَةُ صَفًّا ۖ لَّا يَتَكَلَّمُونَ إِلَّا مَنْ أَذِنَ لَهُ الرَّحْمَـٰنُ وَقَالَ صَوَابًا

The Day that Ar-Ruh [Jibril (Gabriel) or another angel] and the angels will stand forth in rows, they will not speak except him whom the Most Gracious (Allah) allows, and he will speak what is right.

ذَ‌ٰلِكَ الْيَوْمُ الْحَقُّ ۖ فَمَن شَاءَ اتَّخَذَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِ مَآبًا

That is (without doubt) the True Day. So, whosoever wills, let him seek a place with (or a way to) His Lord (by obeying Him in this worldly life)!

إِنَّا أَنذَرْنَاكُمْ عَذَابًا قَرِيبًا يَوْمَ يَنظُرُ الْمَرْءُ مَا قَدَّمَتْ يَدَاهُ وَيَقُولُ الْكَافِرُ يَا لَيْتَنِي كُنتُ تُرَابًا

Verily, We have warned you of a near torment - the Day when man will see that (the deeds) which his hands have sent forth, and the disbeliever will say: "Woe to me! Would that I were dust!"

[Umm2M]

Assalamu alaikum,

Innal Alhamdulillah. I completed memorizing surah An-Naba. I will start memorizing surah Al-Mursalat insha'Allah. I will start with the first 10 ayaat insha'Allah.

وَالْمُرْسَلَاتِ عُرْفًا

By the winds (or angels or the Messengers of Allah) sent forth one after another.

فَالْعَاصِفَاتِ عَصْفًا

And by the winds that blow violently.

وَالنَّاشِرَاتِ نَشْرًا

And by the winds that scatter clouds and rain.

فَالْفَارِقَاتِ فَرْقًا

And by the Verses (of the Qur'an) that separate the right from the wrong.

فَالْمُلْقِيَاتِ ذِكْرًا

And by the angels that bring the revelations to the Messengers,

عُذْرًا أَوْ نُذْرًا

To cut off all excuses or to warn.

إِنَّمَا تُوعَدُونَ لَوَاقِعٌ

Surely, what you are promised must come to pass.

فَإِذَا النُّجُومُ طُمِسَتْ

Then when the stars lose their lights.

وَإِذَا السَّمَاءُ فُرِجَتْ

And when the heaven is cleft asunder.

وَإِذَا الْجِبَالُ نُسِفَتْ

And when the mountains are blown away.

Assalamu alaikum,

Alhamdulillah, I was able to memorize ayaat 1-10. Insha'Allah, I will memorize the next 10 ayaat of Al-Mursalat.

وَإِذَا الرُّسُلُ أُقِّتَتْ

And when the Messengers are gathered to their time appointed.

لِأَيِّ يَوْمٍ أُجِّلَتْ

For what Day are these signs postponed?

لِيَوْمِ الْفَصْلِ

For the Day of Sorting Out (the men of Paradise from the men destined for Hell).

وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا يَوْمُ الْفَصْلِ

And what will explain to you what is the Day of Sorting Out?

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ

Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)!

أَلَمْ نُهْلِكِ الْأَوَّلِينَ

Did We not destroy the ancients?

ثُمَّ نُتْبِعُهُمُ الْآخِرِينَ

So shall We make later generations to follow them.

كَذَ‌ٰلِكَ نَفْعَلُ بِالْمُجْرِمِينَ

Thus do We deal with the Mujrimun (polytheists, disbelievers, sinners, criminals).

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ

Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)!

أَلَمْ نَخْلُقكُّم مِّن مَّاءٍ مَّهِينٍ

Did We not create you from a despised water (semen)?

[Umm2M]

Assalamu alaikum,

Alhamdulillah, I have memorized ayaah 11-20. I will move to ayaah 21-30 insha'Allah.

فَجَعَلْنَاهُ فِي قَرَارٍ مَّكِينٍ

Then We placed it in a place of safety (womb),

إِلَىٰ قَدَرٍ مَّعْلُومٍ

For a known period (determined by gestation)?

فَقَدَرْنَا فَنِعْمَ الْقَادِرُونَ

So We did measure; and We are the Best to measure (the things).

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ

Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)!

أَلَمْ نَجْعَلِ الْأَرْضَ كِفَاتًا

Have We not made the earth a receptacle

أَحْيَاءً وَأَمْوَاتًا

For the living and the dead?

وَجَعَلْنَا فِيهَا رَوَاسِيَ شَامِخَاتٍ وَأَسْقَيْنَاكُم مَّاءً فُرَاتًا

And have placed therein firm, and tall mountains, and have given you to drink sweet water?

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ

Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)!

انطَلِقُوا إِلَىٰ مَا كُنتُم بِهِ تُكَذِّبُونَ

(It will be said to the disbelievers): "Depart you to that which you used to deny!

انطَلِقُوا إِلَىٰ ظِلٍّ ذِي ثَلَاثِ شُعَبٍ

"Depart you to a shadow (of Hell-Fire smoke ascending) in three columns,

Assalamu alaikum,

A bit behind this week so I decided to memorize 5 ayaah instead of 10 and I'll try biithnillah to memorize 15 ayaah next week to catch up insha'Allah. So for now, I'll memorize ayaah 31 - 35 of al-Mursalaat insha'Allah.

لَّا ظَلِيلٍ وَلَا يُغْنِي مِنَ اللَّهَبِ

Neither shady, nor of any use against the fierce flame of the Fire."

إِنَّهَا تَرْمِي بِشَرَرٍ كَالْقَصْرِ

Verily, it (Hell) throws sparks (huge) as Al-Qasr (a fort or a huge log of wood),

كَأَنَّهُ جِمَالَتٌ صُفْرٌ

As if they were yellow camels or bundles of ropes.

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ

Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)!

هَـٰذَا يَوْمُ لَا يَنطِقُونَ

That will be a Day when they shall not speak (during some part of it),

Assalamu alaikum,

Alhamdulillah, I was able to memorize up to ayah 35. I will try biithnillah to memorize 15 ayaah which I think is the remainder of the surah insha'Allah. So, from ayah 36 - 50 insha'Allah. Oh, I hope I can do that insha'Allah.

وَلَا يُؤْذَنُ لَهُمْ فَيَعْتَذِرُونَ

And they will not be permitted to put forth any excuse.

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ

Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)!

هَـٰذَا يَوْمُ الْفَصْلِ ۖ جَمَعْنَاكُمْ وَالْأَوَّلِينَ

That will be a Day of Decision! We have brought you and the men of old together!

فَإِن كَانَ لَكُمْ كَيْدٌ فَكِيدُونِ

So if you have a plot, use it against Me (Allah جل جلاله)!

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ

Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)!

إِنَّ الْمُتَّقِينَ فِي ظِلَالٍ وَعُيُونٍ

Verily, the Muttaqun (the pious. See V.2:2) shall be amidst shades and springs.

وَفَوَاكِهَ مِمَّا يَشْتَهُونَ

And fruits, such as they desire.

كُلُوا وَاشْرَبُوا هَنِيئًا بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ

"Eat and drink comfortably for that which you used to do."

إِنَّا كَذَ‌ٰلِكَ نَجْزِي الْمُحْسِنِينَ

Verily, thus We reward the Muhsinun (good-doers. See V.2:112).

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ

Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)!

كُلُوا وَتَمَتَّعُوا قَلِيلًا إِنَّكُم مُّجْرِمُونَ

(O you disbelievers)! Eat and enjoy yourselves (in this worldly life) for a little while. Verily, you are the Mujrimun (polytheists, disbelievers, sinners, criminals).

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ

Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)!

وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمُ ارْكَعُوا لَا يَرْكَعُونَ

And when it is said to them: "Bow down yourself (in prayer)!" They bow not down (offer not their prayers).

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ

Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)!

فَبِأَيِّ حَدِيثٍ بَعْدَهُ يُؤْمِنُونَ

Then in what statement after this (the Qur'an) will they believe?

Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullah,

I fell behind in my memorizing. I only memorized ayah 36 up to 40. So I have to continue with 41-50 this week insha'Allah.

Assalamu alaikum,

Alhamdulilalh, I memorized to ayah 47 so I will try biithnillah to finish the surah this week (ayaah 48, 49 and 50).

وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمُ ارْكَعُوا لَا يَرْكَعُونَ

And when it is said to them: "Bow down yourself (in prayer)!" They bow not down (offer not their prayers).

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ

Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)!

فَبِأَيِّ حَدِيثٍ بَعْدَهُ يُؤْمِنُونَ

Then in what statement after this (the Qur'an) will they believe?

Assalamu alaikum,

Alhamdulillah, I completed Mursalaat. Insha'Allah, I will begin surah Al-Insan and try to memorize the first 10 ayaat insha'Allah.

هَلْ أَتَىٰ عَلَى الْإِنسَانِ حِينٌ مِّنَ الدَّهْرِ لَمْ يَكُن شَيْئًا مَّذْكُورًا

Has there not been over man a period of time, when he was not a thing worth mentioning?

إِنَّا خَلَقْنَا الْإِنسَانَ مِن نُّطْفَةٍ أَمْشَاجٍ نَّبْتَلِيهِ فَجَعَلْنَاهُ سَمِيعًا بَصِيرًا

Verily, We have created man from Nutfah (drops) of mixed semen (sexual discharge of man and woman), in order to try him: so We made him hearer and seer.

إِنَّا هَدَيْنَاهُ السَّبِيلَ إِمَّا شَاكِرًا وَإِمَّا كَفُورًا

Verily, We showed him the way, whether he be grateful or ungrateful.

إِنَّا أَعْتَدْنَا لِلْكَافِرِينَ سَلَاسِلَ وَأَغْلَالًا وَسَعِيرًا

Verily, We have prepared for the disbelievers iron chains, iron collars, and a blazing Fire.

إِنَّ الْأَبْرَارَ يَشْرَبُونَ مِن كَأْسٍ كَانَ مِزَاجُهَا كَافُورًا

Verily,, the Abrar (the pious believers of Islamic Monotheism), shall drink of a cup (of wine) mixed with (water from a spring in Paradise called) Kafur

عَيْنًا يَشْرَبُ بِهَا عِبَادُ اللَّهِ يُفَجِّرُونَهَا تَفْجِيرًا

A spring wherefrom the slaves of Allah will drink, causing it to gush forth abundantly.

يُوفُونَ بِالنَّذْرِ وَيَخَافُونَ يَوْمًا كَانَ شَرُّهُ مُسْتَطِيرًا

They (are those who) fulfil (their) vows, and they fear a Day whose evil will be wide-spreading.

وَيُطْعِمُونَ الطَّعَامَ عَلَىٰ حُبِّهِ مِسْكِينًا وَيَتِيمًا وَأَسِيرًا

And they give food, inspite of their love for it (or for the love of Him), to the Miskin (the poor), the orphan, and the captive

إِنَّمَا نُطْعِمُكُمْ لِوَجْهِ اللَّهِ لَا نُرِيدُ مِنكُمْ جَزَاءً وَلَا شُكُورًا

(Saying): "We feed you seeking Allah's Countenance only. We wish for no reward, nor thanks from you.

إِنَّا نَخَافُ مِن رَّبِّنَا يَوْمًا عَبُوسًا قَمْطَرِيرًا

"Verily, We fear from our Lord a Day, hard and distressful, that will make the faces look horrible (from extreme dislike to it)."
