Default ALL: Comments & Suggestions & Advice etc: ABOUT OIC - Online Intensive Courses - HERE

Assalamu alaikum

I would just like to inform the brothers at the admin, may Allah reward them for their efforts, about the difficulty of their attempts to appeal to such a wide audience. As you know, timezones are different in different lands, therefore it is IMPOSSIBLE to get a convenient time for everybody that doesnt clash with the prayer time, especially when theres students from all over america, britian, australia and perhaps other countries. Of course for sisters it should be easier in most cases as they dont have to catch the jama'ah at a certain time.

Anyway, I believe this issue should be thought about and you should try and tackle it, so i thought i'd put forward some suggestions, or possible solutions, so that you may come to a conclusion that benefits everyone insha'allah.

1. Remove the condition of being present for the lecture, and post the lecture onto the website, for all students to listen and take notes from, but keep the 5 day deadline for posting notes. Even though the notes won't show attendance, it'll still be beneficial for us students to take notes, and a deadline will make sure we do.

From what I can see the condition of attendance seriously hinders the students learning because he/she only has brief notes and hes only listened to the lecture once. Also it stops students from outside the new york timezone from being present for every lecture every week, due to prayer times changing and clashing every now and again.

wasaalamu alaikum

Asslaamu 'Alaykum

Thank you for your concerns and suggestions.

Our Ulamah have extremely busy schedule and they have to cancell many apopointments just to make hemselves available to lecture us.

Alhamdulillaah seeking knowledge is very simple now, scholars are just a click away.

The least we can do is to make ourself available and commit ourself to seek knoweldge by doing everything possible to attend the LIVE lectures.

Everyone is required to attend LIVE lectures and if some one has valid excuse as you mentioned (Salaah) they may pray and then join back again after Salaah. All Lectures will be replayed after the LIVE sessions so those who missed due to salaah can listen.

Default Suggestion for format of Aqeedah & Fiqh Sessions

assalaamu 'alaikum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuh,

I found that the format of the last Fiqh class on 18th March, 2006 was very good alhamdulillaah, with almost the entire session related to the subject i.e. the book ad-Durar al-Bahiyyah.

That is, most of the questions were related to the topics covered, with just one question being on another issue. So we spent most of the time on the topic. With the previous Aqeedah class we spent just about 30 mins on the Book and about the same on general questions not really related to the topic.

I think that this is preferable since we now have 2 additional sessions alhamdulillaah, devoted primarily to Q&A. This would allow the time to be evenly distributed - 2 sessions course material, 2 sessions Q&A.

However, I don't think it would be a problem if there are one or two critical questsions that require an urgent answer being asked at the end of the course sessions. This is at the discretion of the Admin and Allaah knows Best.

This is just a suggestion and comments are welcomed.

wa salaamu 'alaiakum wa rahmatullaah.

Default Who, What, When, and Where

Ahsalamualaiku waRamahTullahi waBarrakatu,

MashaAllah I am very pleased to be a part of these intensive courses.
Truely they have been very very beneficial for myself and others that I share what I've learned with.

When learning I try to note exactly what is being translated from shaykh(word for word). This causes me to use a sort of short hand some call it "chicken scratch" However I am not getting the most important part of the lesson and that is the proof of where it came from!!!!

This may be that sometimes when it is translated it is said so fast or because the translator knows the information not that much infases is put upon this part of the lesson. If possible can important names of people places and dates be said a bit slower and more clear so that I can start paying more attention to who said it, where they were from ,who taught them. Please by Allah, don't think that I wish to complain this site has been my personal link to knowledge for years now. It is time for me to grow a little and InshaAllah start paying closer attention to the proofs. I don't speak Arabic so ... Just if we could slow down speaking when it comes to names and places of importance. May Allah reward you All for your efforts. Aameen

Ahsalamualaikum.

Default Proofs from Quran and sunnah

Assalamualaikum wa rahmatullah

Alhamdulillah I am benefitting a lot from these lectures by major scholars of our time. May Allah reward all of u out there, the translator, the mashaaikh, and all the students. May Allah give us benefit from these classes.

I just want to ask for something. It will be very good if the translator repeats translation of the ayahs and ahdeeth which are given as evidences 2 or 3 times or else tells it slowly so that we are able to write them correctly. Also can the translator please tell the surah and the ayah numbers when he translates the ayah. This will help us in knowing more about the ayah and we can read its tafseer inshaallah.

Jazakumullahukhairan for giving us such a good opportunity to benefit from scholars

maassalamah

your sister in Islam

Default Can we register to only certain courses?

Assalamou aleikoum wa rahmatoullah wa barakatou,

Inshallah, this will find you all well and in good eeman.

I am not sure if it is the right place to ask, please moderators move if necessary.

I had a look at the registration form for Intensive Course. I only wanted to register to the Aqidah course starting february. First because I would like to have sound basics before going onto subjects and second due to limited time. But the registration form does not state which course we want to register for. So, when/if one registers, does one have to follow all the courses ?
Of course, I know we can follow the courses without being registered, and this is what i am doing when I am able to but it is also nice to exchange notes with other students when one is not sure if she/he understood well and it gives an incentive to be organised in taking notes.
Barakallahu feekom for answering my query.

Oum Ismail
