Some glimpses

We were given adkaar to memorize..I remember entering and leaving the haramain using the adkaar of going to, entering, and leaving the mosques myself or with a roommate

In the lecture room in Mecca, I would often (before the lecture started) recite the adkaar of lailo nahar (night and day) looking at the kaaba...our room window looked out on the kaaba...one day when I was reciting these adkaar...I looked at the people performing tawaf around the kaabah...other people praying in the haramain...I turned around to look at the sisters in the lecture room...one was practicing recitation of the Qur'an with a Qari on a recorder...others were studying together to review notes..others were memorizing their adkaar, practicing tajweed.....and it struck me the feeling...of having a complete atmosphere of learning deen around me...and a complete atmosphere of ibadah below me outside the window in the haram..and me standing there reciting my adkaar it felt like jannah.....priceless....

I was so in love with looking at the kaaba outside the window...I even forgot to take the camera with me and take a picture...I hope a sister other than me did take this opportunity to photograph the kaaba from the window and would like to share

Upon returning home I looked outside the window...it was a beautiful landscape...I missed the kaaba......Allah (SWT) sometimes gives us naymahs and than takes them away to see if we are grateful... Insha'Allah let's be grateful even after this naymah of having a seminar in Medinah, Makkah has been taken away from us.....I look back and reflect on my two miscarriages...I realize returning from Makkah after this trip was more emotionally painful...than I remember Ibrahim (AS) and his readiness to obey Allah (SWT) and sacrifice in His way...it helps Alhumdulillah...it can be dealt with ...and we have so much to be grateful for Alhumdulillah

Masha'Allah and Alhumdulillah. for all these blessings that I have shared with the reader...

I'd like to share in Madinah, we visited the King Fahd complex for printing the Holy Quran

Allah has promised to always preserve His book. He says (interpretation of the meaning): " Verily We: It is We Who have sent down the Dhikr [Reminder (the Qur'an)] and surely, We will guard it (from corruption)." (Qur'an 15:9)

Manuscripts of the Qur'an in different languages...and of many sizes..that have been meticulously printed to be free from even a tiny ink dot that is extra--...and further reviewed by scholars...can be found here...

I only have these pictures to share from inside the complex...I'm relying on other participants to share there photos soon Insha'Allah...to better convey this experience...

Here I' like to share with you an easy dawah tool we learned about for inviting to tawheed and refuting shirk...

Remember when we meet non-Muslims and we want to best convey that there is no diety worthy of worship except Allah (SWT)...

and win their hearts towards tawheed...

On one fine day in madinah...our respected sheikh taught us a simple tool to help us....

Ayatul Kursi...

Have a look at these verses and try to understand how they project tawheed and refute shirk... Surah Albaqarah (2:225)

In fact this being the greatest ayah on the Qur’an based on the following hadith shows the importance of calling to tawheed

Ubayy bin Ka'b (radiAllahu anhu) reported: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "Abu Mundhir! Do you know which Ayah in Allah's Book is the greatest? I said: 'Allah and His messenger know best.'
He (peace be upon him) again said: 'Do you know which Ayah in Allah's Book, according to you, is the greatest?' I (Abu Mundhir) replied: ‘It is 'Allah la ilaha illa Huwal-Hayyul-Qayyum'.[2:255].
Thereupon he (peace be upon him) patted me in the chest and said, ' Rejoice by your knowledge, O Abu Mundhir! (i.e, may this knowledge be a source of respect, honour and benefit to you)'."

Tawheed was a point of emphasis in the UIK 2006 Seminar

Actually, we were reminded that the Saudi Flag (photo attached) has the shahadah written on it..and tawheed is taught in schools from the elementary stage…..with tawhee-based children literature available through the ministery of education

What a beautiful upbringing..to bring up kids knowing about Allah (SWT) …and that he alone we worship and ask for help…

And surely enough…as I was entering the Saudia Flight back to the New York ..I saw the flag on it…reminding me once again of the success associated with the proclamation of this kalima…Success visible…in Saudi Arabia ..Masha’Allah La quwwata illa billah

The Umar Bin Khattab (UIK) Seminar this year had 82 participants from the United States and Canada. This has been the third time, that the Quran and Sunnah Society of New York, under the experienced guidance of Sheikh Zahid Rashid , invited Mashaykh from Saudia Arabia to conduct a seminar for national and international students of knowledge. Sheikh Zahid, as well as many other members from the administration team, are students at the presitiguous Ummul Qurah University of Makkah. they formed AlBaseerah, an institute that provides lectures from renowned scholars online as well as through seminars.
Fatigued from a long journey from New York to Madinah, participants arrived in their hotel in madinah to be cheerfully greeted by Sheikh Zahid and assisted by the administration team. Upon entering assigned rooms, each student of knowledge started becoming acquainted with and attached to their roommates. These friendships, along with the love and support of the host committee, and the humbling and befriending presence of the mashaykh in the holy cities, created an ideal atmosphere for learning and worship. For the three weeks to follow, a whole new world came into existence, based on love for Allah (SWT), bonding, learning, spiritual growth and worship.
Third in its series, the UIK seminar included lectures on many subjects, including seerah, uloom al-hadith, kitab ut-tawheed, and usul ul-fiqh. It further included Umrah and Ziyarat of the Rauda in Masjidul Nabwi, an educational trip to the King

Fahad Quran Printing Institute, a field trip to the Factory where the covers for the Ka’aba are manufactured, and a trip to the Rabta Islamiya. A product of years of preparation, the curriculum focused on preparing effective da’is to Islam. Scholars emphasized the necessity of gentleness of speech and good Islamic manners in inviting others to Islam, and self-analysis and development based on authentic knowledge of the Quran and Sunnah. Tajweed teachers from Ummul Qurah were also invited to teach and correct the tajweed of the participants.

Frequent lavish meals in the most attractive locations were part of the hospitality shown to the participants to increase their keenness to love and show respect to others when calling them to the truth. To further honour the da’is, the host committee, hotel staff, as well as the teachers provided many memorable gifts.
Time for departure came all too soon, and students returned to their rooms in Makkah to pack their bags. Each however, had positive memories and fresh knowledge to share with those at home. The eagerness to pass on this message of Islam as a religion of love and peace and success in this world and the next, brought these honourable dai’s back home.
Like vessels filled with love and knowledge, with eagerness to understand and bond with all people and surroundings, these da’is returned to the west. To preserve this ilm, each was packed with lecture recordings, personal notes and books of knowledge. On the journey back, everyone knew what an important mission they were on, a mission of not extinguishing the lamp of love and mercy that had been handed to each participant in Makkah and Madinah. The knowledge learned was an amanah, and Quran and Sunnah the guiding light through which each participant thirsted to light every person and place encountered. As learners and teachers of knowledge, the da’is settled in their daily routines at home.
