Definitions of terms related to using the forum
Definition of Some Terms
Words Related to Using the Forum:
This section is particularly for those who are new to using forums. Brothers and Sisters who are familiar with and understand how forums work can probably skip this section. BaarakAllahu feekum. FORUM:
Although this whole section of the albaseerah website (www.albaseerah.org/forum) is called "forum" (i.e. the Albaseerah Forum) it is itself made up of a number of smaller forums. On the Main Albaseerah Forum page (www.albaseerah.org/forum/index.php) the links which have an image of a notice board to the left are the forums that make up the main Albaseerah Forum. So, for example, the Al-Haafidhun wa Al-Haafidhaat section consists of 4 forums:
1) - Hifth Advancement Center
2) Al-Qur'aan al Kareem
3) Ahaadeeth of Rasoolullaah (sallallaahu`alayhi wa sallam).
4) Al-Mutoon al-`ilmiyyah
THREAD:
Each forum (for example, each of the 6 listed above) consists of a number of threads. And when one enters a particular forum (by clicking one of the 5 links above, for example), one would see a list of titles of all the threads in that forum. And by clicking the Title of a particular thread, one enters the page showing a list of all the messages (posts) in that thread. So, for example, what you are viewing is a thread and its title is as seen on the wide blue box on the top of the screen (***MEMORIZATION (HIFDH) PROGRAM - WHAT IT IS; HOW TO START: FAQ*** ).
Each thread may have one or more pages. To move to another page, simply click on the page numbers which are in the top right and bottom right corners of the threads.
HOW TO CREATE A THREAD:
To create a thread in a particular forum, for example, in the "Al-Qur'aan al Kareem" forum, click on the forum title (Al-Qur'aan al Kareem) and you would see a list of threads. To create a thread for yourself in this fourm, click on "Forum Tools" on the top right/bottom right corner of the list adn select "Post A New Thread" from the drop down menu.
You would now be prompted to enter a title for your thread and a message. In this particular case, an example title and message would be: Quote:
Title:
Juz 'Amma - dksadiq2
|
Quote:
Message:
as-salaamu 'alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakaatuh
Insha Allah, I'll be starting with Surat ul Naba' and I'll be memorizing 1 verse per day.
BaarakAllahu feekum,
Sadiq.

After entering a title and a message, click "Submit New Thread" and you will be shown your message as a thread. You are now created a new thread. Alhamdulillahi.
POST (noun):
This refers to each message within a thread. For example, this particular message you are viewing which has the title "Definition of Some Terms" is a post and it is one of the several threads within the "***MEMORIZATION (HIFDH) PROGRAM - WHAT IT IS; HOW TO START: FAQ***" thread. Just as a list of threads make up a forum, a list of posts make up a thread.
POST (verb):
This refers to submitting a message so that it appears as a post in a thread. To add a post to a thread, you can do either of the following:
1) Quick Reply: Click on the feather & paper icon on the right bottom corner of any message in the thread. This takes you to the text box at the bottom of the screen. You can type in your message into this box and click the "Post Quick Reply." Clicking the "Go Advanced" button is another way to go to option two (Normal Reply).
2) Normal Reply: Click on the "Post Reply" button at the button/top left corners of the thread. This also takes you to a text editor to post a message but this time around, you can add color, change sizes and add other effects to your messages like a normal Microsoft Word document. Then click "Preview Message" to see how the post would appear in the thread. Click "Submit Message" to add the post to the thread.

"Know, that days are but hours, and hours are but breaths, and every soul is a container, hence let not any breath pass without any benefit,
such as on the Day of Judgement you find an empty container and feel regret!
Be aware of every hour and how it passes, and only spend it in the best possible way; do not neglect yourself, but render it accustomed to the noblest and best of actions, and send to your grave that which will please you when you arrive to it."
